Universal Social Housing Law passed

On the 8th of March 2026, the Vladastock Confederation Assembly reviewed and passed the Universal Social Housing Act. This groundbreaking law enshrines home ownership as a Human Right within the Confederation and establishes the Vladastock Housing Board, whose mission is to ensure that everyone under its care is housed regardless of where they live. The law also outlines how social housing communities are to be run, requiring mental health support nurses and community amenities in larger blocks.

This law is a key legislative achievement for the Democratic Socialist Confederation Party (DSCP) and this administration. It has been in the works since December last year, when the Premier visited citizens in Hong Kong to host a Community Event on the topic. Premier William had this to say upon the passage of the law in the Assembly:

“My fellow Assembly Members, Citizens of the Confederation. Today we take an important step on realizing our union’s promise. By enshrining housing as a right for all and ensuring that our government has the capacity to deal with this issue, we are engaging in a powerful act of activism. I hope that our efforts inspire people around the world to demand better of their governments, until that glorious day when the entire Human family is united. I thank each and every member of this chamber as well as all our citizens for making this possible.”

The next issue to be tackled by the Confederation government will be global healthcare; with insiders keen to also explore revamping Vladastock’s currency. It is looking to be a busy year for the Confederation.
